The Italian Founder
Águas de Lindóia appeared of a youth's Italian doctor adventure, Dr. Francisco Tozzi, born in 1870 in the city of Benevento, province of Naples.
Francisco Tozzi, that was secretary of the Health of Milan, accepted an Italian friend's invitation, parish priest of the city of Help, to come to live in Brazil and to render medical attendance.
Dr. Tozzi arrived in 1900 to I Help, city of the interior of São Paulo.

The first hotels

The beginning of the town

The new hotel changed the routine of the place accomplishing sophisticated dances with live music that they finished precisely at the 22 hours, for expressed order of Dr. Tozzi and on behalf of the health of the guests! Not even the president of the province of São Paulo, Washington Luiz, later president of Brazil, escaped from the excess of the Italian doctor's zeal, and she was always resigned to contain your dances in the certain schedule when she stayed at the Hotel Glória.

Madame Curie's visit, Prêmio Nobel of Chemistry
The work of Dr. Tozzi attracted Madame Curie's attention, Prêmio Nobel of Chemistry, that accomplished researches in France about the radioactivity.
Madam Curie came to Brazil in 1928 and it visited Thermas of Lindóia.

Águas de Lindóia and the Mission Apolo 11

The knights and the legend of the gigantic toad
A popular legend says that the first ones use it for treatment the Águas de Águas de Lindóia they were knights of the century XIX, that discovered incredible healing powers.
The knights would have spread that news for other states, attracting the first tourists.
There was who said that the one that cured were not the waters, but an enormous toad that lived close to the sources and it helped to cure the patients that drank of them and they took a bath.
